Privacy Analytics provides products and services to help organizations unlock the value in Big Data through optimal de-identification that retains utility for complex analytics. Now it is possible to perform analytics and protect individual privacy.

Founded by CEO, Dr. Khaled El Emam, Privacy Analytics Inc. is a 2007 spin-off from the Electronic Health Information Laboratory (EHIL), one of the leading scientific laboratories working in the area of re-identification risk assessment and de-identification. Its team of accomplished scientists are working with an experienced management team to make de-identification simple. Born out of EHIL research, the Privacy Analytics team developed PARAT – Privacy Analytics Risk Assessment Tool.

Dr. El Emam recognized that vast amounts of stored health data could be used for the greater good like research, public health, open data and open government initiatives.  However, the technology to de-identify this data in a cost effective way, all while ensuring the privacy of the health information, didn’t exist.  The approach of Privacy Analytics is risk-based to ensure that the amount of de-identification is proportionate to the amount of actual risk and takes into account the context of data disclosure.
